It is such a shame that the ocelot’s designation as the UTB mascot was so short lived because this wild cat is not only attractive, but because it helped raise awareness towards its conservation.

But do not despair, thanks to the folks of the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge we can still admire this magnificent animal and learn of ways to prevent its extinction.

Plan to attend and bring your family and friends to the University of Texas Pan American on Friday March 6, 2015. Activities will start at 11:00 a.m. There is no cost for admission.

The event is geared toward adults. Staff, students and the public are invited to learn about this endangered wild cat at this seminar which will feature several speakers, information booths and a live ocelot from the Cincinnati Zoo!
