Very few women, at least those I’ve met, believe they look great in pictures, and I am not the exception. It is either the hair, or too fat or just plain ugly. Thank heaven for photo-shop! But unless nobody ever sees you in person, it is not always good to abuse the photo-shop, for you will be a shocking disappointment to those who see your photograph prior to meeting you in person. So, the best thing is to rely on a professional who can do a great job bringing out the best in you.

I recently decided to get my writer’s profile picture with local photographer Janine Marie.  I found out it is important to have a good photograph to go with your professional bio, and in my case, a photo to put on my blog’s profile.

After my photo shoot, I realized why Janine is so popular, she is not only a talented professional, but she inspires confidence, and the experience was actually morally uplifting because Janine makes you feel like a superstar. I was nervous because deep inside I consider this to be a bit self-indulging, even narcissist! Go figure, but that is how I feel. It turned out to be a rewarding experience that I recommend for every woman out there. I am also considering a photo shoot Janine calls Black Book where women of all ages, dressed in their favorite sexy attire, pose for the camera. By sexy I do not mean lingerie, which could definitely work, but I mean an elegant sexy evening gown, a black dress, or like Janine said, “anything that makes you feel sexy.”

The best part of the photo shoot was playing dress up. Janine asked me to bring some of my favorite outfits along with matching jewelry, so she could help me select the one that will best enhance my features and personality.  The decision process transported me to my childhood playing with my friends. The photo shoot lasted about 45 minutes in which Janine took special care in selecting poses, and encouraging a smile through fun conversation.  At the end of the shoot, I selected my  favorite photograph which she will “retouch” just enough to look as the best version of myself, so I do not shock anybody; all this for $99.00. Additional photos I select will be charged separately.

I have reached what I like to call my personal Age of Reason, where I’m living each day with great peace, gratitude and satisfaction. I am also doing many things I never did before, like surrendering to the egocentric desire of posing for a professional photographer while not taking myself too seriously in the process, even when my son tells me the “black” photo is ideal for Halloween! I actually refer to it as my Clockwork Orange photo- it is definitely me.  My wrinkles remind me of all the laughter and the fun times I’ve lived, and now I will definitely  add one more enjoyable experience with Janine Marie.
