On a recent visit to Raymondville, Texas, we stopped to eat at the Boot Company. I had heard about it but had never been there. I loved the whimsy décor and all the Texan memorabilia. We ate fried shrimp and a jalapeno burger. They were both good. I am not a food critic, but the food was good, the place clean, and the staff very friendly. It is a nice place to visit. The bar was closed, for we went for lunch, but it looks like a quaint nice place with lots of artifacts to look at and talk about. There is also a nice women’s boutique connected to the restaurant with a great collection of costume

A bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.-Maya Angelou. La Vida Valle is where I write about "la vida" my life in the Rio Grande Valley. From this bi-cultural corner on the tip of Texas, I share my poems and my spiritual and travel experiences. I also blog about the arts, nature and my passion for historic preservation and architecture. But most importantly, let's talk about "la vida" - living our lives - in a vacation state of mind.
