Last Sunday, my husband and I had a great time interviewing the staff and owner of the newly opened Scampi’s Restaurant & Bar in South Padre Island. My story with all the details and menus will be featured in the August issue of the Valley Business Report magazine.
During happy hour, we enjoyed the famous oysters Rockefeller and a special lobster appetizer; an exclusive creation of Scampi’s.
What made the evening enjoyable was the music of guitarist Hector Guzman – The Guitar Man. Hector has a huge lineup of soft rock favorites, especially the oldies but goodies both in English and Spanish.
Hector will work on his new CD once the summer season is over. His CD is being sponsored by Budweiser.
“I’m all about the oldies,” Hector said “oldies and goodies like me,” he said with a broad smile. Because his music was really enjoyable, I asked him about his weekly schedule so I could write about it for those who love to visit local establishments that feature live music. Here is Hector’s summer schedule:
Monday – Clayton’s Bar and Grill on SPI
Tuesday - Pelican Station in Port Isabel
Wednesday & Fridays – Toscafino’s in Brownsville
Thursday – Palm Street Pier in SPI
Saturday & Sunday – Scampi’s 7-10 p.m.
Sundays for lunch (12-4) – Adolio’s in Brownsville – at Sunrise Mall
Hector Guzman is also available for private parties. He can be reached at (956) 561-8841
