During a recent trip to Houston, Texas, we stopped at a roadside Stripes Gas station in Riviera, Texas, to buy something to eat. I grabbed a copy of the local Penny Pincher and could not help but notice the lack of spice!  There were no Spanglish ads….. bawring… muy aburrido.

I missed the valley’s cultural flavor; I missed its spunk. No tiene el mismo sabor- le falta le enjundia!

The Bargain Book was delivered Wednesday, and I decided to post some of my favorite Spanglish classifieds of the week:

Here they are:

Our valley always working hard with any resources available – I like that. My head spins after reading this, but that is why valley folks are more inteligente!

A bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.-Maya Angelou. La Vida Valle is where I write about "la vida" my life in the Rio Grande Valley. From this bi-cultural corner on the tip of Texas, I share my poems and spiritual and travel experiences. I also blog about the arts, nature and my passion for historic preservation and architecture. But most importantly, let's talk about "la vida" - living our lives - in a vacation state of mind. Contributions and comments are always welcome .
